GALLOPERS TRAINING HARD EVEN IN THE SNOW...
FREE RIDING SCHOOL DURING 2011/12 WINTER BREAK
Traditionally, in cooperation with the Secretariat for Sport (City of Belgrade), PE Belgrade Racecourse organizes free riding school for Belgrade primary and secondary school students. During the winter holidays, from January 2nd to January 13th, thirty students will acquire basic knowledge in this noble art. As always, those who had applied the first, provided the place for themselves, because, this year, the interest for these activities is far beyond the possibilities. However, like every year, we will organize the summer school as well, so this will be an opportunity for all those who are interested to try their training in riding and having fun with horses.

WE HAVE NEVER HAD MORE BEAUTIFUL BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER
We must admit that we have been lucky with the weather this season! Unlike previous seasones, this year we have experienced no weather shocks, which could have disrupted or corrupted the schedule or a racing day. Now, when another exciting season is over, we have more time to look around ourselves to notice that we are already deep into autumn, and the time is still perfect for the outdoor pleasures. It’s the same with the Racecourse. See few November scenes from our park in our gallery.
Second Phase of the Environmental Project Completed at the Racecourse
BOTH SAVINGS AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
On Wednesday, 2nd November 2011 we formally put into operation the second phase of the project which concerns the construction of irrigation system at the Belgrade Racecourse. This work was started 2 and a half year ago when, after having examined the hydrological studies, we found that the racecourse lies on a very rich basin of water. We decided to do the test drilling and realized that it is quite realistic to build such a system, by which we entered the phase I of the project, ie. designing and digging 2 wells, and digging the borehole required for the installations and large collector tanks.

Phase II implies rough works to be closed, tank to be buried, necessary pipes and cables to be laid, as well as the system control unit to be equipped and connected, which is represents the operational heart the whole system. These works have lasted until the autumn of 2011, and thus, practically, most of the systems became functionally usable. In this way PE Belgrade Racecourse will:
1) reduce its bills for water supply to a negligible amount , because from now on it will use the free unlimited amounts of technical water
2) provide a much better maintenance of trails and green spaces which will be practically free,
3) release significant funds for other needs
4) relax the water system for the amount of drinking water sufficient to be spent in a few hundred households.
Also, we hope that , who also have these opportunities, will follow way and stop using drinking water for technical purposes, and thus significantly contribute to the preservation of this precious resource.
During a small ceremony of the putting the system into operation, the Director of Belgrade racecourse Mr. Boris Ivkovic, briefed the media representatives with the performance and benefits of the new system, and the press representatives were also addressed by Mr. Aca Kovacevic, Secretary for Sport, as well as the Chairman of the PE Belgrade Racecourse management board, Mr. Slobodab Rebic.
We plan to round off the system by the implementation of Phase III, which will include purchasing and installing of sprinklers, which will work in a given timetable. It will water the whole space of the Racecourse which will significantly increase the attractiveness of the Racecourse and its value thus helping it become one of the most attractive racetracks in this part of Europe.
FAMILY SUNDAY AT THE RACECOURSE 16th October 2011
During the 18th racing day we had additional responsibility, but joyful task which was performed with great pleasure, and judging by the turnout of visitors, it was very successful too. Namely, in order to enhance our regular program during the month of October, as a public company that participates in the ceremonies in the city, we have organized several free programs. During that day, the racecourse visitors, especially the youngest, could have a free horseback ride, ride in a both big and small carriage which was pulled by two super cute ponies. Since we put our special effort for this event and since the response was remarkable, not even twice as many horses and carriages could have easily satisfied the curiosity and desire of our little visitors. During the 18th racing day we have also welcomend the Belgrade mayor Mr Dragan Djilas, who had a light short walk, visited the most important points on the track and became acquainted with the most important developments and plans. JOCKEYS FLOG MORE THAN ALLOWED
Three British jockeys violated the new rules in the race, three days after they were introduced, because they used excessive whip, said the British equestrian Federation member.
Under the new rules, a jockey is permitted the maximum of eight times to use wa whip on a horse during a race.

Richard Hughes and Kieran Fox were suspended for 20 days, and Natalia Gemella for 7. "I tried everything in order to play by the rules, but it is harder than people think," said Gemella. British equestrian federation has introduced the new rules on Sunday because they estimated the former ones to be obsolete. |
BBAG GRADUATE DANEDREAM DEMOLISHES HER OPPOSITION IN THE PRIX DE L'ARC DE TRIOMPHE
Gestut Burg Eberstein and Teruyo Yoshida's three-year-old Lomitas filly Danedream demolished her opposition in this year's Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and landed her third Group I victory in this kind fashion following her exploits in the Group I Longines Grosser Preis von Baden and Grosser Preis von Berlin respectively. Earlier in the season Danedream secured a Classic victory in the Group II Oaks d'Italia and ran third in the Derby Italiano.
Bred by Gestüt Brümmerhof as a leading consignor at the BBAG Sales every year, Danedream was foaled on May 7th 2008 being her dam Danedrop's sixth produce. Danedream was offered for sale at the 2010 BBAG Breeze Up Sale and knocked down to BBA Germany's Dirk Eisele for a mere 9.000 Euros with the agent acting on behalf of the Volz family's Gestüt Burg Eberstein. The Danehill mare Danedrop is a granddaughter of the Group I Prix Royal-Oak heroine and outstanding producer Lady Berry who counts three seperate Group I winners amongst her leading progeny and can boast a further four winners in this category amongst her descendants. Danedream already ran five times at two and opened up her three-year-old campaign in Milan as early as April 10 – the filly marks a prime example for a thoroughbred's class, honesty and toughness.
BBAG October mixed sales will be held on Friday, 21st and Saturday, 22nd of October with more than 400 horses catalogued.
PRESENTATION INVITATION
We invite all the owners, trainers and raiders, and other interested parties to attend the presentation of the German auction house "BBAG", which will be held by our guest Mr Claus Eulenberger, at the honorary tribune right after the racing program is over. The presentation will be held on Sunday, 18th September 2011.
SHOW JUMPING CANCELLED
We inform you that the scheduled show jumping will not be held due to Serbian Association for Equestrian Sports for Olympic and F.E.I. Discplines' not being able to provide officials for the competition. The program will start on Sunday 18th September 2011 with the qualifying race at 14h and 30 min.
MINISTER OF YOUTH AND SPORTS VISITS PE BELGRADE RACECOURSE
On Wednesday, 17th August, we had the pleasure of welcoming the guest from the Serbian Government, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mrs Snezana Samardzic Markovic. Concerning the fact that this Ministry financially enabled the purchase and installation of the new barrier at the Hippodrome, Mr Boris Ivkovic, GM of the Belgrade Racecourse made the tour together with the Minister and many journalists around the finishing works around the barrier, with detailed explanations and answers to all the questions from the journalists. NIKOLA TESLA AIRPORT DAY 2011
On Sunday, 7th August, we had the pleasure to welcome our friends from PE “Airport Nikola Tesla''. This company has traditionally sponsored a great racing day at the Hippodrome, and this was, otherwise, the first racing day with the new barrier. With great pleasure we have to make a remark that Belgrade Racecourse is getting more beautiful, year after year. We also had the opportunity to begin the cooperation with Alltech Company, which sponsored a trotting race and had a stand at which it presented its offer. Look at the pictures in our gallery.

NO BETTING ON BELGRADE RACECOURSE
Despite our desires, big efforts and publication of the vocation wherewith we have been looking the for new partner who would be bet organizer, to our great regret, not a single company that has valid license for organizing betting applied. So now it is not possible to organize betting on the Belgrade Racecourse in a lawful manner.
Belgrade Racecourse regrets this development. We are sorry that our faithful visitors have no opportunity to verify their knowledge and luck via betting, as an integral part of horse racing.

CLOSING OF TRACKS FOR TRAINING BECAUSE OF BARRIERS DISMANTLING
Belgrade Racecourse announces that from Monday 4th July, the works on dismantling the existing barrier and placing the new barrier for gallop track and a fence for the visitors will be in progress. Working hours start from 9 am every day, and it's your obligation to finish all trainings and other activities on tracks until that time.
You will be personally responsible for any disrespect of schedule !

FREE RIDING SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN
As in previous years, in cooperation with the Secretariat for Sport and Youth of the City of Belgrade, PE Belgrade Racecourse organizes free riding school for Belgrade pupils during the summer holidays. Starting with 20th June of this season, this program has been underway. This program is well received: on one hand, the interest has again exceeded expectations and capacities, and on the other, according to the program manager Ms Visnja Andricćs words, the kids, during 10 hours’ time, can learn far more, than initially expected. So, we are pleased to conclude that we have another beautiful and successful project for the benefit of citizens of Belgrade and we are looking forward the new actions we are preparing.

SUNDAY 3rd JULY - LADIES' DAY
The traditional companion of Galop derby is Ladies' Day, an event which brings back charm and glamour at the Hippodrome. During the racing day, our jury will carefully follow the fashion events on the racetrack and it will award the ladies who gave their best to be the most glamorous and most extravagant. This beautiful tradition, as almost everything related to the equestrian competitions, dates back to England. It rounds up all that represents the right atmosphere surrounding racecourses all around the world. Apart from the excellent competitive program, we will have the display of hats and imaginative toilettes. Dear ladies, do not be surprised if you are approached by our hostesses and invited to the gala awards on Sunday!
26th June 2011 - THE DAY OF THE MUNICIPLAITY OF CUKARICA AT THE RACECOURSE
The day of the municipality where our company is located is traditionally celebrated at the Belgrade Racecourse on Sunday. With one gallop and one trotting race under the name "Cukarica", as well as with the exhibition of big format photographs with the motifs of old Cukarica, we continue this beautiful tradition.
The gallop race “Cukarica” has been run since 1992 and it suits the jockeys with perfect reflexes, because it is run at 1,200 m. Karolina holds the track record (1998, 1.11, 20). Until now, the most successful jockey has been Sasa Glogovac (3), and the most successful horse has been Karolina (4). In 2010 The race was won Eagles Call.
The trotting race “Cukarica” has longer and highly respectable tradition, because it has been run since 1975 and there will be a small anniversary on Sunday: 35th edition! The distance has not been changed since the beginning and is 2,200 m long. Among the drivers, the most successful is Ivan Mukić (7) and the most successful horses are Lahore and Al Hiko with 3 wins. Last year’s winner is Donka.
In order to enhance the racing day further, we have prepared something special for the racecourse visitors. This certainly deserves full attention: in cooperation with our friends from the municipalityof Cukarica, we organize a nice exhibition of photographs with motifs of old Cukarica which should not be missed.

RECREATIONAL SPORTS PROGRAM FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
The program of recreational riding for people with disabilities began at the Belgrade Racecourse. The participants are the members of the Sports Federation of Persons with Disabilities of the City of Belgrade, and the realization of this program was made possible by the Secretariat of Sports, City of Belgrade. Every Wednesday afternoon a two-hour program, that includes basic techniques of riding and working with horses, is held in our park.
The idea is to establish the riding activity as a great recreation for people with some form of physical or mental disability. We began this program in 2010, and taking the satisfaction and success of the project into account, we will continue with this program throughout this year, until the end of August.
PE "BELGRADE RACECOURSE" ON THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE FAMILY
On Sunday, 15-05-2011, on the International Day of the Family, PE "Belgrade Racecourse" brought additional pleasure to many visitors with its attractive participation, just beneath the Tower at the Belgrade mountain Avala. We thank PE ETV for being such good hosts and organizers of the event!
BEHAVIOR AND PRESENCE OF STABLE STAFF ON THE TRACKS
Trot
Please be warned, in accordance with the trotting rule book, that the trotting track, for safety reasons at the start of the trotting race, except for the drivers and the horses, should be free of support staff, except, by special permission of the race starter, for so-called problematic animals.
Gallop
During gallop races, immediately on horses’ entering the starting stalls, support stable staff must leave gallop track and only after the race may again return to the track and catch their horses.
The refereeing corps will not give the starting signal until the staff leaves the track.

MONDAY 25TH APRIL - NEXT RACING DAY
PE “Belgrade Racecourse” informs all competitors and visitors that the third racing day of the 2011 season will be held on Monday 25th April. This is due to Easter holiday which is on Sunday 24th April, and traditionally, racing day which falls on Easter Sunday moves to next Monday.
CHANGE OF BELGRADE TRAFFIC REGIME DUE TO BELGRADE MARATHON
We notify all the owners and trainers of the horses that are transported from inside the country, especially from the direction of Pancevo, that the traditional Belgrade Marathon is to be held on Sunday 17-04-2011. This will cause traffic halt and changes in traffic regime in certain parts of the city. For this reason, please inform yourself in time.

With first sunny days, the racecourse traditionally becomes the place for the children both from Belgrade schools, as well as from Serbian schools to come to and to spend a day filled with games and fun. Please visit our gallery to see more photos.
PRESS CONFERENCE HELD
On Friday 4th April we welcomed the representatives of over 20 leading electronic and print media with great pleasure.
Mr Boris Ivkovic, the GM of the Belgrade hippodrome, presented to the reporters the beginning of the new season and the development plans of the PE ‘Belgrade Racecourse’ for this year and the gathering was continued in an informal atmosphere, with additional questions, clarifications and statements.
Journalists had the opportunity to ride in a carriage at the Racecourse area. We hope this to be only the beginning of a serious media interest in all that PE ‘Belgrade Racecourse’ has to offer to the representatives of the 'fourth estate'.
WORKS AROUND THE RACECOURSE
Due to abundant works which are being carried out around the Belgrade Racecourse and on the Gazela bridge as well, read the following information carefully and look at the draft. Also check via the Automobile-Motorcycle Association of Serbia whether the Beska bridge will be closed to motor vehicles on Sunday 04/10/2011.! Information can be found on the next page.
1) From Friday 04/08/2011 till Monday 11/04/2011 both tracks on the Gazela bridge that were used for the passage of vehicles from New Belgrade to Nis will be closed. Because of these changes WE SUGGEST THAT ALL HORSE OWNERS AND TRAINERS USE A DETOUR ROUTE VIA THE OSTRUZNICA BRIDGE. If someone does decide to go over the Gazela bridge, only way to return to the Belgrade Fair is to go to the first next loop route at Autokomanda and then to make the exit at the loop route ‘Mostar’ towards the Belgrade Fair.
2) When you reach the main entrance of the Belgrade Racecourse you will take the old road towards the stable circle through the Paštroviceva street until you reach the new roundabout. There you will be met by two of our men who will direct you to the place provided for the unloading of animals on the new road that has just been completed. FOR EASIER ORIENTATION LOOK AT THE DRAFT!

PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE OPENING OF THE NEW SEASON
On Friday 8th April at the premises of the Public Enterprise ‘Belgrade Racecourse’ we organize a working meeting for media representatives.
There are plenty of reasons for holding this meeting: on Sunday 10th April we will open the new season at the Belgrade racecourse, we will promote the new look of our website and the GM of PE ‘Belgrade Racecourse’, Mr. Boris Ivkovic, will present the ambitious development plans for 2011. Of course, there will be plenty of room for informal socializing and the media representatives will get the opportunity to look around the racecourse area, to see the abundant infrastructure works in progress and the bravest ones will be allowed to ride the horses. We expect the journalists from all the leading national print and electronic media and we have prepared many nice and pleasant surprises for all of them.
